An iconic tree of Aotearoa. A large strong and durable tree that was an important timber to European and Maori for building fences, waka and carving. Noticeably common in Northland on farmland as it is not palatable to stock. The berries are dispersed widely by birds. A great specimen that can be hedged and will grow in most soil types.
