Confined to the Three Kings and Hen and Chicken Islands. Now common, in cultivation it is a hardy, coastal tree. Large broad leaves makes for a striking tropical appearance. Will grow up to 5m making for an excellent specimen. Likes a sunny site and reasonable soil, and it will handle windy sites once established. Frost tender. Clusters of black fruit for birds when in fruit.
